I was born in China but have been living in the USA since I was 6 years old. I never enjoyed rote memorizing Chinese characters, and in fact, dropped out of Chinese school. So, I avoided Chinese like the plague but was drawn to reading and writing poems in English.

During the pandemic, I worked on improving my Mandarin by reading manhua, Chinese comics, and watching donghua, Chinese animation. I noticed that the official English translation would sometimes miss the humor or poignancy in the original Mandarin, which motivated me to embark on the journey of becoming a translator.

As a feminist, working in the STEM field, I couldn't help noticing the gender disparity and lack of accurate STEM representation in literature, so I started creating my own science comics and short stories.​
