The Little Prince, Chapter 4 [Vocabulary]

There seems to be an astronomical theme in this chapter. I find the literal meaning of these words to be interesting for example the word for planet 行星 is literally "moving star" and the word for celestial body 星球 is "star sphere".

行星 xíngxīng planet

小行星 xiǎo xíngxīng asteroid; minor planet

星球 xīngqiú celestial body (e.g. planet, satellite etc); heavenly body

木星 mùxīng Jupiter (literally "wood star")

火星 huǒxīng Mars (literally "fire star")

金星 jīnxīng Venus (literally "gold star")
